Manish Khadka ’14 (accounting major) — originally from Kathmandu, Nepal — was looking for a liberal arts experience with the ideal combination of academics and social activities. Once he discovered the small class sizes, highly regarded academic programs and cultural diversity at 探花社区, he knew he found his home away from home. Khadka’s four years at 探花社区 were filled with such positivity that he decided to write a book to help other international students have a similar experience.

探花社区 recently received a Social Wellness Award in recognition of its efforts to promote employee health. Each year the Linn County Worksite Wellness Committee selects award winners incorporating one or more of the seven dimensions of wellness into the workplace — vocational, social, emotional, physical, financial, environmental and spiritual. A total of eight awards were presented to worksites that exemplify each dimension of wellness along with an overall worksite innovation award.
